A Project About Connection, Identity and Being Human
Who am I?Where do I belong?
What am I seeking?
How do I understand myself?
How do I connect with others?
At the heart of these questions is something we all share:
What does it mean to be human and what is my purpose?
Humanity Reframed is based in Gimuy/Cairns and respectfully acknowledges the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji peoples as the Traditional Owners of the land on which this project takes place.
It is a cultural platform for connection, storytelling, and shared human experience.
Through music, performance, visual storytelling, and community voices, it creates a space where people can connect, reflect, and feel a sense of belonging.
Where It Comes From
This project has grown from a deep connection to storytelling, culture, and understanding people.
It brings together research, lived experience, and community insight to explore how we make sense of who we are and where we belong.
How It’s Explored
Humanity Reframed looks at the human experience through four perspectives:
Anthropology & Archaeology — understanding humanity across timePsychology — understanding the inner world
History — understanding where we come from
Lived Experience — real stories from real people
These are brought together through the arts — where ideas become something people can feel and connect with.
Why It Matters
Across Gimuy/Cairns and Far North Queensland, there is strong culture, deep history, and diverse communities.
Humanity Reframed creates a space for people to connect, reflect, and engage with shared human experiences — whether that is through curiosity, creativity, or a desire to better understand ourselves and each other.
What We Hold at the Centre
Identity
Creating space for people to explore who they are — their story, their experiences, and how they see themselves.
Connection
Bringing people together through shared understanding across cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.
Shared Experience
While each person carries their own story, there is something deeply shared in being human. Through creativity and lived experience, we begin to understand each other and find common ground.
